I went to one of my usual sites today and got a message to download Flash Player .

Went to the settings section for my computer and it shows that Flash Player is on .

When I go to the Adobe site and use their test, it shows Flash Player disabled .

Any ideas on where to go with this ??

I am using Windows 10 Edge .

Seems like I remember there being something wit Microsoft/Edge/&Flash.  If it worked then just stopped, I'm not sure. Have you done an update recently?
I can't say off the top of my head but I think I remember hearing that you can make it work but have to get into some settings to do it.

Sorry, not much help but it might just be MS making things difficult instead of a problem with the program.

Bob, Found this that might help. It seems that Adobe Flash Player is a pariah in the IT world and may not be around much longer.

I just hope the transition to whatever replaces it is painless for us users.

This is a good thing.
Windows explorer, whilst I admit it has been improved in recent versions, is not a paragon of virtue in terms of security, Chrome and Firefox have either limited or denied the ability for Adobe Flash to run for some time.

The problem is that Flash was designed to be something of a "Swiss army knife" type of application, it ca (and does) access your hard drive, microphone, password cache (in unsecure browsers), location settings, user details etc. all of this things were included in the [mistaken] belief that it would improve the user experience if they didn't have to touch keyboard or muse whilst flash did its thing.

Problem the first - Flash is a mashup of code slices obtained from various sources, loosely "glued" together.

Problem the second - flash has and still does provide vectors for the injection of malicious code and do to problem the first is way too easy to break in ways that leave your system open to the injection of malware.

It can't be fixed and there are better, more secure pieces of software that do everything that flash does.

The sooner flash disappears from the world the better.

Nice one Tony! As someone who has spent the last 40 years bent over a keyboard, I couldn't have said it any better!
