Tabs can be broken. Would prefer the face was not marred.

I thought someone was making reproductions of these but I couldn't find them on line.

I thought boxercafe.com might have them but R65 not on their website.  You could always contact them and ask.

However this chap appears to have them https://www.meyer-bikes.de/index.php?page=gruppe&path=/00000083/00000096&idx=53

Just for future reference, BMW still produces and markets the battery covers, part# 46 63 1 237 173 left, and 46 63 1 237 174 right. Lots of new old stuff still easily available out there. I've used Max BMW's parts fiche for years, and they've always been friendly, knowledgeable folks to deal with.
Here's a link to the R65 fiche.

My new battery covers touched down today. All the way from the "Old Country" in 5-7 days for $85 including shipping, They came in black so no painting required for my LS.

Can't argue with that.
I ordered a K100 front guard from the BM Shop in Brisbane a couple of weeks back.

Not only did they locate a set of the special captive nuts that would have been difficult to replicate, they also found me a beautifully painted black one.

I have a policy that all my BMWs are black (the GSA being a current medium term exception) cause I figure that the average copper faced with what to a young copper is an "ancient" old motorcycle, I reckon they would look no further than the BMW badges and the black paintwork and the fine detail of whether it is an R65, an R100 or even a K100 would be beyond their interest.

I get to economise on registration that way.

FYI, Motobins has them for 20 pounds each (for the Black repos). That's much less than Myer 39 Euro or 33 pounds.

I had to buy one last year from Motobins then get the correct paint made up as my LS in "Polaris " silver.

FWIW

I went to motobins and the one I saw was a pound more than I paid...... but it white or cream color..... I didn't see the other one and to my thinking if I see one I should see them all. These sites have a long way to go to organize stuff so you can make an informed decision.

I'm sure you 20lb side cover was there but I didn't find it..... so if I had been there buying rather than looking I would have left and went the direction i did because at first look it was cheaper.

Bottom line,  they ARE out there and at a reasonable price so doing an Ebay thing for big money for a damaged product doesn't make sense.

And brand new, retail from BMW via Max, Bob's, or other large dealers with online catalogs is $49.20. Oh well.

***although if $85 is for a pair, then Wilcox, you made out great***
