Looking for Reynolds ride-off center stand #R360 for my 1981 R65. At least thatís the number I think I want. Thanks for your help.

Got an offer of a model R361, made for 1983-1984 R65s. Anyone know if they could possibly be backwards compatible? No mention of such in Snowbumís notes on Reynolds center stands. I figure frame must be different or they wouldnít have made a change in the stand, but donít know anything about R65 changes over the years.

The Centre stands interchange between 1979 and 1985.

The "receiver" on the 79-80 frame is slightly different to the later twin shock frame, this is only relevant to the care you need to take to grind back the sides of the stand that contact the frame when you do the inevitable re-welding of the tops of the centre stand tubes.

There is one minor complication (*I think*) with clearance of an early model stand and the later factory deep sump - it's a long time ago but I seem to remember this being an issue when we put the R80 engine into the wife's 1979 R65. As I recall a new stand was purchased instead of relocating the cross brace as the stand was pretty beat up. I do know that the stand now fitted to the 79 frame and that one on my 84 model are identical.

The side stands do not as the 79-80 edition uses the same sidestand mount as the /7s but the stand itself is unique to the 79/80 R65.

When was the changeover to the exhaust system that added the crossover pipe?  That might be an issue for an older stand?

Wife's R65 has single crossover, mine has dual crossover - both have same stand.

You might want to take a look at this old Reynolds part list and photos. It shows the model 360 as the proper one for the R65, and that's the one I ran on my 3 R65s as well, 2 '84s and an '82. Not to say that a 361 might not be interchangeable, but the charts here don't show a 361, and I'm not familiar with that model.

I take that back, the cover page for the Reynolds parts does indeed mention they have a new model 361, being introduced for the 1983 models, although 1981-84 should be the same. And again, I always used the 360, and that's probably what you're usually going to find.
