Missing centre stand foot operating lever

Hello,
I've just noticed my recently-acquired 1984 R65 is missing the centre stand side operating lever. The stand itself funtions well after awkwardly lowering by hand. Its  point of origin is obvious, and appears to have suffered corrosion, although the bike is otherwise in very tidy condition.
A common problem? Suggested fix ?

If your going to fashion a replacement tang here are two pics of my 84 stand. It works fine, but after inspection appears to have been bent. I would look at another to see how misshapen mine may be....

The tang was missing on mine when I bought it and I didn't know any better. I got real good at hooking the toe of my boot over the center stand near the curve and could put it down easily. I still use it that way when it is parked in the garage. For weekend rides I use a Browns side stand, quick and reliable.

Yeah, just weld it back on.  There is a reason a lot of these "tangs" are broken off.  It's sole purpose is to be snagged with toe to get the stand to drop not to STOMP on to raise the bike onto the stand - some people don't realize this.  Some of the other stands have a sturdy bit and can support a lot of weight but these can't.
